Every two years the International Life Saving Federation organises the Lifesaving World Championships (LWC).
Group Pivot for Lifesaving World Championships
Currumbin Beach Vikings approached Orbit World Travel to manage their large group international travel, for the Lifesaving World Championships in Amsterdam.
Accommodation was exhausted within the small towns due to demand, so Orbit World Travel pivoted and organised transportation for the young team members along with pre and post extensions.
What we did
- Initially 50 seats were held with Singapore Airlines for group travel from Brisbane to Amsterdam return.
- Team lists are sourced from the General Manager after qualifying local competitions in different disciplines.
- As we received qualifying names and contacted them – more than half ended up changing their dates for pre and post travel.
- Accommodation was needed in Noordwijk and Eindhoven but every bed had been secured by SLSC Worldwide, so we negotiated for beds near the competition.
- To assist moving team members from their place of accommodation to the Championships we organised ground transport by hiring 4 large mini coaches, which were driven by the tour manager and parents who accompanied the young team members.
The entire group travel ran smoothly with the extended travel requests by the surf lifesavers enjoyed after the competition.
