Day 1. Arrive Tokyo Arrive into Tokyo and be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner. Two Nights: Hotel Okura, Tokyo.

Day 2. Tokyo Begin your exploration of Tokyo with a visit to the Ameyoko district and Asakusa. Visit Sensoji, also known as Asakusa Kannon and Tokyo’s oldest temple. In the afternoon depart for Tokyo Edo Museum where you will have time to explore, followed by a traditional Tea Ceremony. Later, visit the Imperial Palace Plaza.

Day 3. Tokyo, Hakone Travel to Hakone Yumoto station aboard a traditional Romance Car. Upon arrival into Hakone, dine at a local restaurant for lunch. Continue with a Pirate Boat journey to Togendai, on the shores of Lake Ashi, an enormous volcanic crater created by an eruption 3,000 years ago. After arriving in Togendai travel via Rope Way towards Owakudani. There are walking trails around Owakudani that lead to steam vents and bubbling pools. The eggs sold in Owakudani are boiled in the volcano’s natural hot springs and are said to prolong life by seven years. End your day with dinner at your hotel. Stay: Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa, Hakone.

Day 4. Hakone, Tokyo Meet your Tour Director after breakfast and transfer to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station (weather permitting) and Mt Fuji’s Visitor Centre. After taking in the sights of Mt Fuji, transfer to Odawara station and travel by bullet train to Tokyo. Stay: Hotel Okura, Tokyo.

Day 5. Tokyo, Yokohama, Embark Cruise After the morning at leisure, transfer to Yokohama port to board your Holland America Line cruise. 15 Nights: Holland America Line cruise aboard Ms Volendam.

Day 6 to 16. At Sea Enjoy days on board as you cruise up the coast of Japan, stopping at Hakodate and Kushiro. Whilst at these ports, perhaps take one of Holland America’s guided shore excursions (at own expense). After crossing the International Dateline, continue up to Alaska, making a stop at Kodiak.

Day 17. Glacier Bay National Park Wake up to the sight of Glacier Bay National Park this morning, with its formidable rivers of ice, wild coastline and sheltered fjords. Today, local rangers will join you onboard to impart their knowledge and explain the geological wonders and diverse wildlife of this incredible region.

Day 18. Ketchikan Arrive in the Alaskan town of Ketchikan, renowned for its rich Alaskan Native culture and being the salmon capital of the world. Here, you will have free time to relax and explore the town at your leisure. Perhaps join a walking tour of the town or learn about the fascinating Tlingit culture at Saxman Native Village (both at own expense).

Day 19. Inside Passage Spend the day cruising south through the Inside Passage and its magnificent landscapes and towering glaciers. This evening, savour a final dinner.

Day 20. Disembark Cruise, Vancouver, Victoria After a final breakfast on board your cruise ship, you will disembark in Vancouver and be transferred to your ferry to Victoria. Travel to The Butchart Gardens and spend time wandering through the lovely Sunken Garden and relax in the beautiful settings of the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. Enjoy a special Welcome Dinner to Canada in the original Butchart family residence. Two Nights: Marriott Inner Harbour, Victoria.

Day 21. Victoria Enjoy a leisurely day in Victoria or perhaps enjoy a whale-watching cruise or a horse-drawn carriage tour (own expense).

Day 22. Victoria, Whistler Drive to the town of Chemainus before boarding a ferry across the Georgia Strait to Horseshoe Bay. Admire the Coastal Mountains as you travel along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway with a stop at Shannon Falls on your way to Whistler. Two Nights: Delta Whistler Suites Whistler.

Day 23. Whistler The day is yours at leisure to explore Whistler however you wish. Perhaps enjoy one of Travelmarvel’s Select Experiences including a gondola ride, zip trek or Maligne Valley experience (own expense).

Day 24. Whistler, Vancouver Travel to the exciting city of Vancouver today. Explore the city on a sightseeing tour. Take in the city’s sleek high-rise-framed Waterfront, and you will also enjoy time to visit Vancouver’s historic heart and oldest neighbourhood, Gastown. Today, it is an area that is a hub for cuisine, fashion, and stylish interior design boutiques. This afternoon, you may wish to enjoy a Select Experience, like a picturesque Grouse Mountain gondola ride (own expense). Two Nights: Marriott Pinnacle Hotel, Vancouver.

Day 25. Vancouver Watch for bears and enjoy a delicious breakfast at Grouse Mountain. During your bear experience you will receive early access to the mountain and get to see some of the resident bears explore their habitat.

Day 26. Vancouver, Rocky Mountaineer Rail Journey, Kamloops Board the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer and relax in your SilverLeaf carriage as you soak up the stunning scenery through panoramic windows, before entering beautiful Fraser Canyon. Enjoy dramatic views of the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate, then follow the Thompson River before arriving in the town of Kamloops for an overnight stay. Stay: Kamloops, hotel assigned by Rocky Mountaineer.

Day 27. Kamloops, Rocky Mountaineer Rail Journey, Jasper Reboard the Rocky Mountaineer train and continue on your spectacular journey. Arrive at Jasper late in the afternoon, then enjoy time at leisure this evening to explore the surrounds. Stay: Pyramid Lake, Jasper. BLD Day 28. Jasper, Icefields Parkway, Banff Travel along the Icefields Parkway, considered the world’s most scenic highway, and stop at the Columbia Icefield for a thrilling Ice Explorer ride onto Athabasca Glacier. Arrive into Banff this afternoon and settle into your hotel. Two Nights: Buffalo Mountain Lodge, Banff.
